Grade selection guide:
- 304 — The default choice for 80% of industrial components. Good balance of cost, corrosion resistance, and machinability.
- 316 — Required when parts contact chemicals, acids, saltwater, or must meet medical-grade hygiene standards.
- 430 — 30% cheaper than 304, suitable for decorative parts that do not require high corrosion resistance. Note: magnetic, harder to weld.
- Hairline (brushed #4) — Directional brushed finish on a 304 or 316 base. Used for architectural components, elevator panels, storefronts. Requires care during bending and welding to avoid surface damage.
Full Process Chain for Stainless Components

1. Fiber Laser Cutting (0.5–12mm)
Our high-power fiber laser cuts stainless steel to ±0.1mm tolerance with clean edges and minimal burr. Capabilities:
- SS 304/316: up to 12mm thickness
- SS 430: up to 10mm thickness
- Maximum sheet size: 3000 x 1500mm
- Minimum feature size: 5 x 5mm
2. Deburring (Tumble or Manual)
After laser cutting, part edges are deburred using a tumble finishing machine (for volume orders) or manual grinding (for special parts). This ensures safe handling and clean assembly interfaces.
3. CNC Bending — CNC press brake (30-ton)
Our laser fiber CNC press brake (30-ton) press brake (30-ton capacity, 1000mm bending length) delivers:
- Angle tolerance: ±0.5 degrees
- Stainless bending up to 3mm (304/316)
- Bend profiles: L-bend, U-channel, Z-bend, box, hat channel

4. TIG Welding (Argon Back-Purge)
TIG (GTAW) welding is the standard for stainless steel fabrication. At Tuan Thinh:
- Argon back-purge on all back-side welds — mandatory for food-grade and medical components
- Welding of 304, 316, and 304+316 combinations
- Consistent weld beads with minimal heat distortion from experienced technicians
5. Passivation
After welding and machining, the stainless surface loses its protective oxide layer. Passivation using citric acid or nitric acid restores the chromium oxide (Cr2O3) layer, improving corrosion resistance. This is especially critical for 316 components used in harsh environments.
6. Surface Finishing
Depending on your requirements, we offer:
- Hairline brush #4 — Unidirectional fine brush, standard for architectural and decorative applications
- Mirror polish #8 — Reflective finish for medical, food-grade, and high-end decorative use
